On May 14th 2011 I exchanged into Euro and they charged me a 35% commissions! That could and should have been the worst but when I asked them to cancel the transaction and return my money they claimed it was against the company’s policy, I explained I didn’t really care about their policy and they then claimed that I had renounced my mandatory consumer rights to cancel a purchase when completing the transaction.

Nowhere did it say anything about renouncing ones mandatory consumer rights. Exact Change is cheating happy visitors to Madrid out of their hard earned money. I asked for an official complain form which will be sent to the authorities – Exact Change will soon realise that they cannot renounce people their mandatory consumer rights to null a purchase.

To sum up, compared to Exact Change any bank or ‘caja’ will give you a better rate, lower commission and treat you with respect. Do yourself a favour, avoid Exact Change by any means! 

Exact Change also have an office on Atocha rail road station in Madrid – avoid them and save your money.

I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill – there’s always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.

This is in response to reading that 4 of Oprah Winfreys “angels” got busted ripping off the system. Shame on them!
